I installed your plugin. I am worried that this conversion to Webp will break my images. What if I want to revert back to JPG?

Also The GD (recommended) check box is not selectable. I asked my host to turn on the PHP modual, they said they did. So I am not sure why I can’t select the “recommend” GD method of conversion.

    Any help would be great.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your message!

If this option is not available, it means you have the GD module installed, but it has no support for WebP. An example of the correct server configuration can be found here.

Can you give an example of images that are damaged? Have you done any images compression before?

Don’t be afraid of your images, please. This plug does not change them. Any time you turn it off, the original imageswill start loading. However, I hope I can help you and use the plugin.

I chatted with my host they claimed they turned on GD. however I still found that the check box for using GD was not selectable.

No images were damaged, since I have not used the plugin yet. What exactly should I tell my web host to turn on for GD to be selectable in the plugin?

I tried three times with my host, they say GD is installed correctly. but I dont see that option checkable on the plugin. Can I use imagemakgic? Or would that not be good. Also I can revert back to jpgs correct? without my images being broken?

    Thanks.

If you have the Imagick option available, use it. It’s just as good as GD.

Good plugin, I compressed to 75%. Still however I can’t pass Google Site Kits speed test. I shows a red 0. I don’t understand. My site does load fast on my desktop and mobile.

Also, I have a question. If I add more images (jpgs) should I just re run the plugin to convert the new jpgs to webP?

    Thanks!

By using the plugin your website has a weight of 4.4 MB instead of 5.3 MB. I did a test on IE11, which doesn’t support WebP, I got 5.3MB and on Chrome 4.4MB. This means that the plugin gives great results.

Unfortunately, I will be very honest, it is very poorly optimized. It has a lot of glaring errors. Unfortunately, but here it will be very difficult to improve anything visibly.

Here one plugin will not solve the problem.
