I’d like to give the free version of this plugin a try, but after entering our TripAdvisor.com listing address I get a gateway timeout during the download process when it attempts to store the reviews in the listing database. We have about 115 reviews, so I’m not sure if that scrape is just taking too long or if something else prevents it from pulling them down. There is no 500 – internal server error, it just seems like a 504 request time out as reported by the browser. Thanks! -Dave

  • I also get that with the error message:

There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.

I refreshed numerous times and eventually all seemed okay. It said the settings were saved and reviews downloaded. However despite having set a template etc, only the widget title is displaying, the reviews / listing is not.

Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you.

Hey Dave @banjohead, What is the TripAdvisor URL you are using? I’ll test it out.

Matt @matsp, Are the reviews showing on the Review List page of the plugin? If so, try changing the review template type to Post or Page and then use the shortcode in a text widget. If that doesn’t work then check the javascript console for errors. Right-click on the page > inspect, look for the console window.

Hi, thanks for the reply, and the plugin of course! Yes it populated the reviews list in the plugin. The solution for me was quite simple if not obvious – I deleted then reinserted the widget after the above and it refreshed everything and i’m happy to say is now working and looks great. Thank you!
