Gateway Theme Appearance/Widgets Missing

    I have been using the Gateway theme for a website I maintain for about 3 years. I use the Footer Left, Footer Middle, and Footer Right widgets on all of the pages. Recently I decided to update the information in the Footer widgets and found that I could no longer navigate to them as in the past (Appearance/Widgets). The menu item of Widgets no longer displays under Appearance.

    Please advise how to get this functionality back.
