When I attempt to run the Email Check, Debug, or Test Config functions on the MailServer tab of the postie-settings page, the page eventually returns a 504 Gateway Timeout error page, which lists openresty/1.11.2.2. I have attempted disabling all the wordpress plugins one by one to troubleshoot, but so far, no change in the behavior. I tried searching the support forum, and googling this error in regards to postie, but didn’t have any luck locating a solve.

I’m running Postie v1.9.23, and WordPress v4.9.7 with the Gateway Theme.

Any thoughts on what I should check next?

    Thanks!

After installing the Support Plugin, I was able to pull a log, and see that this appears to be a straight-forward error connecting to gmail:

After poking about a little more, I suspect this error is actually a problem with my hosting provider not allowing imap/pop connections to gmail. I’ve opened a ticket there and will update once I know more.

Clicking the debug button would give you the same info as the support addon with less steps.

Yes, typically timeouts connecting to the mail server is due to the hosting company blocking access. GoDaddy in particular does this for many of their plans.

If you have shell access take a look at https://postieplugin.com/faq/postie-wont-connect-mailserver/

Confirmed that this is an issue caused by my hosting provider blocking access to imap, pop3, and smtp for all 3rd party email hosting services. In case anyone else is having this issue, the hosting provider in question is Network Solutions.

    Thanks for letting us know.

Did you ever get network solutions configured? If so, please share. If not, what was your work around?
