Garbage collection doesn't expire WP-Super-Cache files

    Is it normal behaviour that the garbage collection only deletes WP-Cache files and ignores the WP-Super-Cache files? I have it enabled on a test rig and when GC runs, I can see it removing the WP-Cache files from /var/www/html/wp-content/cache/blogs/blog/ but it never touches the supercache folder.

    Most of my pages are cached as Supercache pages and I really need the plugin to properly recreate them every 5 minutes instead of leaving them growing older and older. ??

    Any suggestions welcome!
