gallery – urls to pages not working

I have tried everything, searched everywhere for a solution. How do I get a url link to page to stick on a gallery. I insert a 2 column gallery with images that are meant to link to pages; and the url refuses to work. In image options it lets me enter it, I save it, an no go, images just link to … the image on a new page. If I load them up as single images I can get the url link to work; but then I can’t get the images side by side. So, I have images down middle of my page! Any clues on how to get a url for a page to stick when you enter a gallery? Hours of time have disappeared on this and I am hoping someone else out there has solved it! Thanks in advance!
