Gallery thumbnails don’t show when a variation default is set

Sorry for the delayed response.

When a default variation is selected, the plugin doesn’t show the basic featured image and the gallery. It shows the Images and the gallery images set to the specific variation on the single product variation settings.

Suppose, you set the default variation color as blue. But you didn’t add variation images in the product variation fields. In this case, the gallery section will be blank.

In order to show the default variation images of the product, you have to make sure that you added variation images from the product variation settings. Please take a look at the screenshot.

Also, If you don’t want to show the gallery blank, you can set the featured image to show along with the variation images as well. Check this screenshot for a better understanding.

Great plugin! Except, I also have the same issue where the thumbnail gallery does not appear unless variation images have been uploaded or no variations have been selected from the dropdowns.

I think you intended to work around this issue for customers who don’t need to show specific variation images with the “Include Feature Image: To variation gallery”, but that doesn’t seem to work (or I also might not understand your intention with that setting).

Is it possible to include a checkbox setting to always show the thumbnail gallery, regardless of what variations may or may not be selected?

Sorry for the inconvenience.

If you want to show the default feature image when the variation is selected, you have to simply check the ‘Include Feature Image – To Variation Gallery‘ option from the General Settings. Check the screenshot for a better understanding.

We have tested the feature on several setups and it worked out perfectly. If you face any issues with the feature on your website, you can share the details in a new thread. We will make sure the issue will be fixed.

Showing the featured image and the default gallery image when the variation is selected is not available in the lite version of the plugin. Check the screenshot.
