Gallery sort order for the new Media Manager

  • I am liking the new Gallery feature introduced in 3.5, especially while Nextgen sorts out their issues with version 2.X.

    One issue I’ve been having is that the sort order feature breaks when I go into edit the gallery. Editing the gallery causes the images to revert to their original, default positions, forcing me to reorder each time. Is there a way to make my sort order permanent in my galleries?

  • without looking at your problem, and given that no-one else has some back, I’d be inclined to go into text mode, and then copy the order into notepad, and then paste back afterwards.

    Thanks for the reply Robin. I think I may have kinda, sorta located the problem. I have 2 different sites in which I recently switched from NextGen to the Media Library’s improved gallery.

    In the first example, the gallery link is disabled. If I edit this gallery, my sort order remains intact.

    In the second example, I installed a plugin, WP Gallery Custom Links to enable my ability to link each thumbnail to my friend’s portfolio post type work samples. I suspect this plugin may be resetting the sort order back to default each time I go back into the gallery to edit it.

    I am posting to the plugin’s support forum to find out if anyone else has experienced this.

    Ok, let us know if that fixes the problem, so someone searching this forum in future will know what you did to resolve !
