Gallery post format and featured image

    When using the gallery post format it seems the featured image is ignored at homepage post listing display and instead getting a random picture for those used in the gallery. The same happens if no featured image is selected and always the same image from gallery becomes featured.

    Is there a way either to have the featured image display same as other posts or being able to select which one of the gallery to show as featured?

    Hi @dsl225,

    When using the gallery format, the images attached to the post (uploaded in the media dialog while editing a post) are displayed in a slideshow above the post. It’s a clunky workaround to themes not being allowed to store theme specific content to the database.

    Thanks but, sorry, I don’t well understand your answer.
    I understand that the images display in a slideshow above the post – when viewing a single post that is. Sure and that works fine.

    My question was related to the random image that is set automatically as featured when listing all posts excerpts at homepage. Is there a way to select which one will be shown in there?
