Gallery plugin for art site

Hi

I need to build a site for an art gallery which will allow visitors to browse several hundred thumbnails sorted into different pages according to the artist. Under each thumbnail I need to display a short bit of meta data about the picture (its size, etc). Then of course, when you click on the thumbnail it needs to show the full-size version.

So for example, there would be a page called Van Gogh and on it there might be 20 Van Gogh thumbnails and their metadata displayed, and another page called Picasso which would have Picasso thumbnails displayed. If there were too many Picasso thumbnails for one page then it would need to show next and previous buttons.

It would be great if I could allow my extremely non-technical client to update the meta data and if poss’ the photos himself.

Can anyone recommend the best gallery plugin for this?
