• So I’ve read about Galleries in WordPress on this page here.

I’m not sure when the article was written, or what WordPress version this shows, but I see a few options that I do not have.

In step 7 or 8 for example, you can see a button called “Type”, with options such as Default, Tiles, Circles… I do not have this option, where do I find or enable it? I only have the options “Link to”, “Columns” and a checkbox “Random Order”.

And also in the intro of the article, it says following:

To switch to tiled layouts from the default, head over to Settings → Media in your blog’s dashboard, scroll down to “Image Gallery Carousel,” and select the box next to “Display all your gallery pictures in a cool mosaic.”

I do not have this either, all I have when going to Settings → Media are settings for thumbnail size, medium size, large size, and an option that says “Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders”.

Anyone know if this was removed or something?

That link is for WordPress.COM and doesn’t necessarily apply to self-hosted installations.

I believe you can get some of those features by installing and configuring Jetpack.

Ah I didn’t see the difference. Well, I installed the plugin you linked now, it added some options (for example the whole carousel thing in the Media Settings), although some are still missing. Like, the type of gallery, in the gallery settings. I still can not find that button.

Okay, I just found something else. In the Jetpack menu, I can see a field “Tiled Galleries”. I clicked the “Learn more” button and it said me following:

To make the rectangular layout the default for all of your site’s galleries, head over to Settings → Media and check the box next to “Display all your gallery pictures in a cool mosaic.”

But again, no such option in the Media Settings… even though I’m on a self-hosted WP, and not on WP.com ??

Yes. See the part about “doesn’t necessarily apply to self-hosted installations.” ??

I afraid you’ll need to do some research and look in the plugins directory for gallery options.

All of the .COM options aren’t available on self-hosted installations. Many of them are but not all.

Too bad, really! I’m just looking for a simple gallery but all of those I find are way too complex.

    Still thank you!
