Gallery not working

    I can’t get a gallery to show in my new blog.

    I’ve followed these instructions (https://wordpress.tv/2009/01/05/creating-an-image-gallery/). I get a post with [gallery] in the HTML. But when I save it or preview it, there’s nothing there.

    I’ve tried some plugins (Cleaner Gallery, Tag Gallery, WordPress Gallery and jQuery Lightbox For Native Galleries) and different themes (Minimatica and the totally unmodified default Twenty-Eleven) and I get the same results every time – nothing.

    I have tried it on different computers, not just my home network. I’ve tried it in Firefox and Internet Exlorer. No difference.

    So I figure there is something fundamentally wrong with my WordPress setup. But I have no idea what to check or look for. Can anyone help me please?

  • it should work on the Twenty-Eleven theme, question, can you upload a single image to your post and preview it, not as a gallery, just as an image?

    I can Insert an image OK, and when you click on it, it opens in a webpage, like a “normal” internet link.

    What I want is for the thumbnails to open in a lightbox.

    You should see two images in a gallery. I can’t see any images (except the header), but in Edit mode there is a gallery there and it says [gallery] in the html tab.

    That’s very strange, it should work.

    Do you have any plugins installed? can you try to disable them and try again? If it works, you can then turn them on one, by one.

    hixen, you are a genius.

    It was a plugin called “Frontpage category filter” that was the problem.
    I’ve changed to “Frontpage Manager” and that doesn’t conflict.

    Website creation is back on track!
