[gallery] link from single thumbnail

Hi

I use the built in [gallery] option. In addition to this I usually add some sort of lightbox plugin to get a nice next/prev/play usability once a thumbnail is clicked.

What I would like to do (without having to use NEXTGEN) is to have the [gallery] option allow to only display the first thumbnail. But when the thumbnail is clicked the rest of the gallery would show up in my lightbox solution.

I have no idea if this is possible. But if anyone know of a plugin that can do this without having to fall back to other upload managers or gallery managers beside the built in one I would really appreciate it.
