I was uploading several galleries for a client this morning and this one, the last one I was working on, won’t display images on the front end, though they are in the back end fine. There were a couple of oddities.

? One, this was the 51st gallery, so I wondered if there were a limit to the free version of NextGen.
? I created this gallery and moved photos from another gallery. I had to split the initial gallery into 2. So, for the first time I used move and copy. However, when the images didn’t appear after move and copy I deleted the images in the gallery and uploaded fresh.
? Then I noticed that this gallery had an ID of 51 and was the first on a 3rd page. So I deleted that gallery and removed an old gallery so that I could make a new gallery that would be the 50th. Images still didn’t appear. The ID is now 52 which might be the issue.
??I did ftp into the site to confirm the images were there.

This is on a site using the responsive version of Graphene, everything is updated, it is hosted on GoDaddy. All of the other galleries I uploaded today are good.

    Any help appreciated!

  • Did you insert the gallery with the Insert Gallery Window or using a shortcode? If the IGW, you can convert the IGW placeholder to a shortcode by viewing the post in text.

Any chance you could share the shortcode you have there? Just want to see what its referencing in terms of gallery id. There just seems to a disconnect as if your inserted gallery is not referring to the right gallery id or something.

I’m actually using an album. Short code is [album=1]. I use Manage Album to add galleries to the album. And it is there. Is there a way for me to upload a screen shot?

Ok that’s helpful. Sorry if this is basic, but can you go to Manage Albums, select the album, and just confirm that galleries are in it? Should look like:

Be sure you are looking at the album with ID = 1 which is the one you are inserting.

If you look at album with ID 1 as above, and it has galleries, just also confirm those specific galleries have images.

Yep. It’s definitely there. And it definitely has images when you look at the back end. They just don’t show up on the front. ID:52. If I could upload an image I’d send it. It’s definitely in there. And the gallery shows up on the front end. With a thumbnail. But when selected it says “no images were found”.

You mentioned ID 52. Is that the ID of the Album? I ask because you’d mentioned that the shortcode was [album=1]. If the album you want is id 52, and the shortcode says id 1, that would explain it.

Any chance we could ask you to try inserting the gallery via the Insert Gallery Window? That will allow you to select the gallery directly.

From page/post click Add Gallery. On the Insert Tab select Album as what you want to install. Then type or select your album name in the next box down. Select the type of album you want and click insert.

If you want me to look at it directly, you can submit a bug report at https://www.imagely.com/report-bug/ with your WordPress creds and I’ll log in and take a quick look.

No, ID 52 is the gallery. I create an album then add galleries to them. Is there a limit to the number of galleries in an album. Or does GoDaddy limit them somehow.

It works when I use the Add Gallery feature. But I’d love to do this as I always have and just add galleries to the Album.

Perhaps I need to break up the Album by year. I’ll try that.

Very odd. But I can make a workaround. Thanks!

I see, you have an album (id 1) that has a lot of galleries. But the latest gallery with id 52 isn’t showing.

As far as I know, I don’t think there is a limit on galleries in an album. That being said, I also don’t think we’ve ever specifically tested very large numbers of galleries in an album. I do wonder – given this issue occurred right at the round number of 50 galleries – if there anything that unintentionally tries to set pagination above a that number of galleries in a single album just to avoid excess page load, and maybe that’s not working correctly on the front end.

I’m not quite sure how to trouble shoot though, short of logging in and looking.

Sounds like you may trying a work around. If you have other questions as you work on it, let us know.

This might have been because I made a new gallery with the same name as an existing gallery. Client gave me the images in wrong folders and I had to rename them. When I created a new gallery with a slightly different name (James Kinney 2018 instead of the old/duplicated James Kinney 2017/2018) it worked fine. The offending gallery is now gone. ??
