Gallery Images used as links

I am trying to use the gallery function to add a few images to a page, and have each images be links to individual pages. I tried in NextGEN but it would not even load a gallery. If there is another work around I would sure appreciate some advice. Any prior threads I could find on the topic are 2-3 years old and the code has changed, particularly on the NextGEN plugin .
