Gallery filter hooks not working after WP 3.8.1 update (at least it seems so)

  • So I am new to WP and I have been trying to figure my way out of this mess that started yesterday.

    I have a theme installed which I have modified (css and some footer files. No I haven’t changed anything in functions.php)and it was working perfectly until 3.8.1 arrived.

    Even now, everything works fine except my galleries.

    This post was published when it used to work and it surprisingly is still working. However if I copy the EXACT same shortcode and content of the above post in a new post, this is what happens. The same thing happens if I create a new gallery in a new post. The theme gallery filter hook is not overriding the default gallery_shortcode() (from media.php) for the posts/galleries that I am adding right now.

    It seems pretty weird because I heard WP re-renders posts everytime and if it had to stop working it should’ve stopped working even on my older posts but its still working on the older posts. Maybe its some other issue then? I am not able to figure out. Please help!

    (notes: Browser cache is cleared; Tried re-installing WP from the dashboard; Also re-installed the theme.)

  • I am also experiencing an issue with the gallery shortcode not functioning properly since installation of 3.8.1.

    I am using a heavily customized child theme but have modified nothing pertaining to the wp-core files.

    Looking at the links you provided, it seems similar to an error I incurred in the past related to permalinks. I would recommend seeing if changing your permalinks settings would help.
