gallery edit screen removes shortcode variables

I love the edit gallery screen! Right now, it strips out any shortcode variables, such as orderby, link=”file”,columns, and size. Amazing would be if those variables could be set from the edit screen, WYSIWYG for columns, and somewhere, anywhere, an option for size.
