gallery building tutorials

Hey again, I tried my hand at building custom post types which is simple, but I am still having issues understanding how to create a gallery.

The layout is like this:
Album page/list all galleries

– add new gallery
– gallery page

— gallery title

— +add new image
— upload image
— name of image
— set link to bigger image or webpage

— add settings to control entire gallery
— All available JavaScript objects

— shortcode section for each gallery
— copy and paste shortcode
— copy and paste hard PHP shortcode

— save gallery page

The best I could do is get this set up like a normal custom post type but I do not understand what is needed to change the editor out for a customized core feature for uploading images into a gallery block.

Any help would be great thanks.
