I upgraded NextGen Gallery from 2.1.23 to 2.1.26 and the automatic slug generation for galleries no longer works correctly.

The auto path generated no longer removes spaces or changes the case, it just adds on the name of the gallery as entered e.g. /wp-content/gallery/My First Album instead of /wp-content/gallery/my-first-album

Then, on the albums list page, the gallery link slug has the format /MyFirstAlbum instead of my-first-album

Once I reverted to the previous version of the plugin, the slugs were all generated correctly again for new albums.

    Thanks for your time

  • I am also having this issue.

I tried downgrading to .23, but the issue still remains. Clicking on a gallery leads to the wrong url and the gallery won’t load. I have tried renaming the galleries but the url does not change.

It would be nice to have the option to update all permalinks or the manually change the permalink for galleries.

    Also having this issue.

Re DWRZ & how downgrading fixed things for me:

I was lucky to be doing a new NextGen install i.e. I had no existing galleries. Once I started adding galleries I realised there was a permalinks issue with version .26.

When I downgraded, adding a new gallery was fine again. However, I couldn’t find a way to fix the existing galleries I had just set up & had to just delete them & start again back on version .23.

Thanks so much, tidy! That is very good to know. It would be nice to see a fix, but if it doesn’t happen soon, that’s what I’ll do!

@tidy – I just re-tested the creation of an album and what you are describing as past functionality is still current functionality. The albums are being created with the slug using hyphens rather than spaces.

I would suggest looking to other functionality on the site that addresses paths / routing to see if there is anything over-riding NextGEN Gallery functionality.

Thanks for the support reply Cais.

There are not many plugins on the site & no theme functions or plugins that should affect permalinks. The problem instantly went away when I just manually replaced the .26 next gen files (I’d done an auto upgrade via the WP admin) with the .23 files from a local backup.

@tidy – Thanks for the follow-up. We have actually found why this was happening and will have it fixed in the next release (after 2.1.26). Our apologies for the inconveniences.
