• Hello,

I have a webhotel account that comes with only one mysql. And I’ve understood that you can intergrade a gallery into wordpress. Can it be done using the same mysql database? Or does someone have a another idea how to use wordpress and gallery?

  • You can put both apps (and more) into one database.
WordPress put’s ‘wp_’ before all it’s table names, and Gallery will use a different prefix so they will both play nice.

give Gallery 2 a try. grab it from https://gallery.sf.net/

to integrate it into WordPress, headover to https://wpg2.ozgreg.com/ and download the plugin.

scaturan :: Very nice Gallery plugin! I saw how it was integrated into your website and I was very impressed.

I use FAlbum, another WordPress plugin. My gallery looks like this: https://www.negative99.com/gallery/. If you troll around my site you’ll see that I was able to theme my gallery identical to the rest of my site. All my photos reside on Flickr.

thanks! heh, my site doesn’t look good as yours though!

more people are discovering Flickr and how well you can integrate it alongside a full-blown photomanagement platform like FAlbum or Gallery.

may someone please teach me how to add a gallery into wordpress..?
i would like details.. cos im a beginner

First do some research… then ask intelligent questions indicating you have gained some knowledge on your own.

“cos” we’re not here to spoon feed anybody ??

ok i have tried.. and i kept gettin this error..

    when i reach setup # 5

Warning: mysql_connect(): Lost connection to MySQL server during query in /Gallery/lib/adodb/drivers/adodb-mysql.inc.php on line 348
Gallery: Lost connection to MySQL server during query

    why does it lose connection?

Ok. That error is with your MySQL database and is independent of WordPress… otherwise you’d get that error for your whole blog. It is possible that you have not entered the correct DB login info into the config file of your gallery plugin (that’s assuming you edited the config file to begin with).

looks like a Gallery 2 issue – for assistance, try https://gallery.menalto.com/forum/66

Alternatively, there are always gallery systems that don’t require a database. Cat-scan is one such project (disclaimer: I’m involved) — GPL Open Source — and is nearing 1.0, which will have an installer to make the process thoroughly painless (assuming you know a tiny bit about file permissions or are willing to learn).

For that matter, there are Flash solutions that nearly automate everything for you as well and don’t require a DB. If anyone’s interested email me, and I’ll email you the URL’s to some good ones (free, too… at least most of them)…

Just quickly, cat-scan 1.0 came out last week or thereabouts, if you haven’t taken a look already + Gallery 2 isn’t working for you.
