After updating NextGen, my galleries are not loading. When I click on the page to link to my album, all the gallery thumbnails show up, but when I click on a gallery nothing happens. I tried linking directly to the gallery instead of through the album and the same issue occurs. The gallery thumb nail appears, but when I click on it, nothing happens.

I have deactivated all of my plugins and the issue still persists. This is not a JetPack issue for me as I’ve already deactivated it and the same problem continues. Is anyone else having a similar issue that isn’t Jetpack related since the upgrade?

  • I am having the same issue. I also uploaded the beta via ftp by replacing files and the only thing to fix it is de-activating jetpack.

@pardeeps & @bigmike2000 , could you both try activating permalinks under Gallery >> Options > General Options, let us know if that works for you?

If it does not, please submit your bug report here, detailing your test results from installing the beta, if the error persisted with all plugins except NextGEN Gallery, deactivated, and if it persisted even when switching to WP Default Theme. Please also include temp. login information for your site and steps to see the error.

    Thanks!

Activating permalinks does not solve the problem. The albums and galleries are still inaccessible.

The gallery and album information, names, descriptions, captions, and pointers to the appropriate sub-directories in wp-content/gallery/

Is all of that contained in a flat file that can be restored by my web host back to before I installed the 1.9.11-beta, and if so, what is the name of the file? or

Is all of that contained in the WordPress MySQL database?

I do not have JetPack installed, and have not tried to install the beta yet. I actually suspect that this issue is theme-related, but I can’t get the theme maker to respond, so I’m hoping I can get help here. This particular theme has a slideshow built in to the site. But I’ve not had much luck figuring out how/where. I am fine with disabling this built-in slideshow since I would prefer to be using NextGen anyhow.

When I disable the theme using Twenty Twelve, the gallery will appear, though it takes a few seconds to actually display. And I have tried disabling my few plugins one-by-one (the built-in slideshow is not set up as a plugin). None of them seem to be the problem.

Very frustrated. Wondering if there’s simply a javascript conflict somewhere. As in, perhaps if I update a particular javascript file in the theme, that might solve this? I’m really just thinking out loud here and have no idea if that’s realistic. JS is not my forte.

This is the development site and page where I’ve tried to insert a gallery. You’ll see the built-in slideshow on the homepage.

Hi. I am having the same problem. Just noticed it this evening. The albums were working fine this afternoon. When I deactivate JetPack the albums start working. When I activate it again they quit working. Galleries seem to be working fine.

    Here’s the album page https://www.nampamodelaviators.org/gallery/

    Insert album with TinyMCE
    [album id=5 template=compact]

When I click on an album it takes me to https://www.nampamodelaviators.org/gallery/?album=5&gallery=3 Nothing get’s displayed.

I made no other changes to the site.

@netbros – Images are kept in (by default) /wp-content/gallery/; settings, galleries, the registry of images uploaded, are kept in the database in wp_ngg_album, wp_ngg_gallery, and wp_ngg_pictures tables.

@yourbusybee – When you are able to install the Beta, please let us know if everything works better with your current plugins and theme.And/or if switching to a different theme helps. We are unable to ensure compatibility with all the thousands of themes out there, but if there is a common theme causing a lot of issues, where possible we would like to include a fix.

@nippaero – Could you let me know if by going to Gallery >> Options > General Options and selecting ‘Activate Permalinks’ > save changes, clearing browser cache and reloading your site, if that helps resolve the issue you’re experiencing with the Album?

    Hi photocrati,

    Thanks for getting back.

I selected activate permalinks under general settings and then ran create URL friendly slugs. It still does not go to thegallery when you click on it. I cleared by browser cache as well. No luck. Have a look here.

I have also recently upgraded to WP 3.5.1 and updated my PHP to 5.3 (from 5.2). For some reason Godaddy defaulted me to 5.2. But regardless, no changes. The weird thing is it was working for a while before I noticed it not working. Not sure what changed…

@nippaero – A few other things you might check:

    – deactivate all plugins
    – set your WordPress Permalinks to ‘Post Name’

If neither of those changes work, would you mind submitting a bug report with your error, steps to recreate your error, and temp. login info so our devs can take a look? Thanks!

Ok. So I narrowed it down to Jetpack. When I disable Jetpack the galleries start working. If I enable Jetpack it breaks. Am I just stuck with it?

@nippaero – Would you mind installing the NextGEN 1.9.11 Beta and let us know if that resolves the issue you’re having with Jetpack?

You might also try the solution mentioned here in this thread, and let us know if that corrects the issue for you as well.

    Thanks!

    Hi There,

Having the same problem as the folks above.

Try to create a new gallery it and it just does not show up in menu for adding pictures. I can see that the folder was created (when I view it, via FTP), but it does not show up in the backend Admin when I want to start uploading images:

    What I’ve done so far
    – turned off all plugins
    – downloaded the new Beta 1.9.11
    – currently have the beta running
    – have not had Jetpack installed
    – tried “activate permalinks”
    – tried changing permalinks to postname
    – running WP 3.5.1
    – running a current Canvas theme 5.0.13

All so far with no luck…. New galleries still not showing up in admin

    Any more thoughts?
    thanks

@dougcoxnc – What version did you upgrade from? Was it older than 1.9.8?

If you wouldn’t mind, submitting a bug report and include the details you listed, as well as temp. login information to your site, that will help us diagnose what may be causing this to happen.

    Thanks!

I tried a couple things. First I made the changes to the class.jetpack-post-images.php file as suggested in the other thread. It works great.

I then backed out that change to try the beta. I installed the 1.9.11 beat and it did not fix my problem.

I will submit a bug report as soon as I get a chance.
