    Hi,

I would like to implement the tracking for both Google Analytics 4 and Universal Analytics at the same time using this plugin. Is that possible?

    Kind regards,

    Simon

    Hi @harpo1984,

Currently, the WooCommerce Google Analytics Integration plugin would only track either one instance of UA- or GA4 analytics data and could not track both tracking implementations at the same time.

You’ll notice that when you select the Use Global Site Tag option in the settings the Enable Universal Analytics setting is removed.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks for the response.

I see the Set Domain option is removed when the Use Global Site Tag is checked.

For tracking GA4 at the same time as UA I have been able to achieve this by:

    • Enabling the Use Global Site Tag option in the plugin
    • Leaving the UA-XXXXX-X tracking ID in place and not replacing it with a GA4 tracking ID.
    • Withing Google Analaytics, I connected the existing UA profile to the new GA4 profile I created

It took 24 hours or so, but it now looks like the data is flowing correctly in Google Analytics 4 even though I am still using Universal Analytics in the plugin settings. I am getting data for both feeds without either feed appearing to be affected.

Can you confirm if this setup is OK, or should I expect inaccuracies in the data collected by the plugin and sent to Google Analytics, please?

    Kind regards,

    Simon

    Hey @harpo1984,

This approach may work to track both implementations as I know Google allows for this now from what I’m seeing in my own analytics dashboard. I’m not too sure how robust that implementation would be as it’s not one I’ve as yet personally tested for my installations.

I’d try this approach out for a few days and then cross-reference the data between both implementations. I think it might be fine but I can’t say 100% if that will be the case. I’ve also connected my properties in the same way on one of my test sites too for us.

If I notice any strange behaviour I’ll reply to this forum topic letting you know if that’s the case ??

    Hi @stuartduff

I ran the implementation discussed above for a week and whilst it works, it does actually break some events and conversions in Google Universal Analytics (v3) and no custom event data is sent to Google Analytics v4 either whilst using the settings in this thread.

Once I turned the Global Site Tag setting off everything started working again in Universal Analytics but obviously, the data stopped flowing to v4.

Are there any plans for this plugin to run dual implementations? (I’ve noticed a number of other plugins offering this).

    Kind regards,

    Simon
