GA4 Revenue Reporting – Ecomm Purchases

Hello, we are experiencing issues with reporting revenue to GA4 with this plugin. Around the time we updated to the latest version of WooCommerce (early September), we started seeing decreased revenue numbers for SEVEN. We are trying to understand what’s causing the issue.
We believe that the issue is taking place somewhere in the handshake between WooCommerce and GA4. GA4 is reporting traffic correctly, but when it comes to transactions, we’re seeing far fewer completed transactions (and revenue) than we are seeing in our WooCommerce interface.
And to compound the frustration, it’s not as if ALL transaction data disappeared. Instead, it is showing only about 30-40% of transactions and revenue. Also, it’s not just one traffic channel, device category, or product that is showing lower revenue and transaction numbers — it’s all of them.
We haven’t made any changes to GA4 or GTM that would affect this. The dev team similarly reports no changes that might do this. We’re stumped as to why this is occurring and are looking for any insight you might have.

I don’t believe that the payment gateway is the issue. We migrated fully to GA4 in July and the numbers were reporting correctly until around the beginning of October. During this time, there have been no changes to the payment gateway that would have affected anything. We also aren’t really able to just swap payment gateways to test this. .
Do you have any other insights as to what might be the issue?

The absence of tax on certain orders might indicate a conflict or incompatibility with one of your other plugins or themes.
Additionally, upon reviewing your Google Tag, I noticed a total of 8 tags installed, which could be contributing to the inconsistency issues.

If this doesn’t resolve the issue, please follow the steps below to perform a full conflict test:
- Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
- Disable all plugins except for Woo / Google Analytics
- Repeat the action that is causing the problem
If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict. You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.
If you can’t afford to take your site down for a few hours to do all of this, consider cloning it using something like WP-STAGING and placing a few test orders in the staged environment.
Make sure to pay using the Cash on Delivery method and to track the metrics in the Real-time dashboard as it can take up to 24 hours for the events to show up in your Google Dashboard.
