• I have an interesting issue on every site that uses this plugin. We have the paid version on most of these sites. If you navigate to the Monetization -> Ecommerce Purchases tab in GA4, there’s a list of item names and the following metrics: Items viewed, Items added to cart, Items purchased, and Item revenue.

The first two metrics, viewed and added to cart, show values for item names that have no variation data in them (parents). The later two metrics, items purchased and item revenue, only show data for items with variation data (children).

    • Item name: Nike Everyday Plus Cushioned (only displays viewed and added to cart data)
    • Item name: Nike Everyday Plus Cushioned – Red (only displays purchased and revenue data)

Now, I sort of conceptually understand why this might be, however, I would love that the item names were just the parent names without the variation data so we can see all four metrics under each product. GA4 already has another metric called “Item variant” which we can use in tandem with the “item name”. This would accomplish what adding them to the parent name is doing.

Is there something I’m missing here? Let me know.

    Hi

According to the GA4 docs the item_name is for the parent name and item_variant for the variation attribute like color: https://cln.sh/GR4hvPgW

That’s exactly how it is implemented in the Pixel Manager: https://cln.sh/slbSc1mL

I’m not sure if that what you are looking for can be achieved with GA4.

Hello, let me clarify myself. I am currently seeing this. These are examples of how these attributes are being displayed in the same table, however the data is really separated.

If I sort by views or add to cart:

If I sort by revenue or purchases:

Had to reupload the images some reason.

That should not happen, and doesn’t look like something the Pixel Manager would do.

Are you sure you don’t have any third-party Google code on the website?
What’s the link to your website?

atvtires.com is one – It could be, Im not sure the culprit.

I found a bug that on some installs would output the variation attributes in the name of the product for GA4. This has likely caused the type of reporting you’ve sent a screenshot of.

This will be fixed with the next version of the Pixel Manager.

    Thanks for reporting it!

Thanks for looking into it. Great news, excited to see that fixed. If you still want the logs, I can get those. I see this issue on many sites.

No. You don’t need to send us the logs. I think it will be properly addressed in the next release.
