GA4 but setting Tag on our own – migration issue
-
Hello,
is GA4 eCommerce Tracking possible to receive the full transaction data somehow but when the google tag snippet code is inserted by another plugin (cookie plugin to be compliant?).
Right now I have these options deactivated:
Use Global Site Tag
Enable Universal Analytics
and I am getting the transactions into my old UA property despite changing the ID to the new GA4 ID but still nothing comes into my GA4…
thanks

Hello @mseb,
Thank you for reaching out!is GA4 eCommerce Tracking possible to receive the full transaction data somehow but when the google tag snippet code is inserted by another plugin (cookie plugin to be compliant?).
I understand that the tracking script is managed by a cookie consent extension. The WooCommerce Google Analytics Integration is designed to link your store to Google Analytics, offering basic functionality. If you’re looking for more advanced options with Consent Mode, I recommend exploring the Pixel Manager Pro for WooCommerce extension.

If you’d like to add more than one tracking ID, you can check this part of the documentation.
Make sure to edit the snippet to include your own tracking ID and to use a code-adding plugin like Code Snippets, instead of adding it directly to your site’s
functions.php
file.
Let us know if you have any other questions. :?)Hello,
I have set the GA4 property ID in the plugin settings but no eCommerce transactions end up in Analytics. The site tag is managed by another plugins and it should stay like it. Any idea why nothing might come up in Analytics?
or do I need to activate the “Use Global Site Tag” Option? But then the tag will be added a second time, correct?
and strangely, despite my new GA4 ID, transactions show still up in the old UA set up although I replaced that property ID in your plugin settings.
thanks!

If you’re integrating a Google tag with another plugin, this may cause a conflict and explain why some data are not being tracked, so please try disabling all other plugins that add a Gtag if you plan to use our integration. :?)
Additionally, if you are referring to e-commerce data, such as sales, please ensure that you are not using any plugins that interfere with the thank-you page after checkout, as the sale is tracked from that page.
You also need to check this box fromWooCommerce > Settings > Integrations > Google Analytics

Hello,
I cannot use your plugins to include the Gtag, because in Europe we need to ask first for the consent from the user, and this cannot be done with your plugin. These are the current settings, but still it does not work at all:

The Gtag is included correctly and all other events etc are recorded correctly, it is only your plugin not working and providing the e-commerce data.
Thanks!

If you are not implementing the Gtag provided by our extension, no data will be tracked. The Gtag is responsible for collecting events and information.
I understand your concern regarding privacy. You can try using a cookie consent plugin to prevent tracking scripts from running unless the visitor permits it.
I found this particular plugin during a quick search, but you might need to purchase their pro version per the comment in this thread.
Additionally, you can search for “Cookie consent WordPress plugins” on Google and find many options to choose from. :?)
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Hello, we are already using Borlabs Cookie as consent plugin. If the user accepts, the gtag is triggered and loaded by this plugin. Is there any option planned in the future where we could keep using our existing plugin? this is required to fulfill all legal requirements. Many other plugins with GA4 have no problem that the tag is loaded in another way and not by their own plugin.
Thanks!
Hello, we are already using Borlabs Cookie as consent plugin. If the user accepts, the gtag is triggered and loaded by this plugin.
I’m not sure if I fully understand this part, but by that logic, you can use the Borlabs Cookie plugin to block the Gtag from WooCommerce Google Analytics Integration until the user has accepted the cookie notice. :?)
You may want to check with their team about this first: https://borlabs.io/support/
Let us know if I misunderstood your question. We checked with Borlabs directly, but the code will need to be set as opt in and Google Analytics should not be used with the script blocker, that is intended to block YouTube and other external embedded links etc
In that case, probably many people won’t be able to use your plugin when they want to decide to insert the gtag code in their own way. We will deinstall it then if no option like this is planned.
Hi there @mseb
As I understand, the national data privacy laws where you do business require that you offer an opt-out for users. To do this, while continuing to use WooCommerce Google Analytics Integration, go ahead with including the following HTML code snippet, linked directly here.
Exact wording depends on the national data privacy laws and should be adjusted.
If you need more information, don’t hesitate to contact us. We are happy to help you!
Hi there, not really – it is not about offering opt-out, it is about getting opt-in before any cookie can legally be set. If the user does not opt-in, the script can not run. And the existing Borlabs Cookie solution we have is supporting that well.
Currently, there isn’t an option to use this plugin to add a consent banner before collecting data. If this is what you need, could you please add this suggestion to the Ideas Board?
Alternatively if it’s important for you to have this feature now, you may consider a custom-tailored solution for your site that extends the default features of our plugins. If you need any coding help, reach out to a customization partner.
If you’d rather implement your own tracking code but still require a consent solution, have a look at GDPR Cookies for WooCommerce and the Track with Google analytics section in the docs for an alternative approach.
I do not want to change to any other consent plugin as ours is fully customized and configured, many others could not live up to the complexity, different languages, etc.
I have added the request a feature request as well. I‘d like to use my own consent check and gtag code snippet, but the eCommerce analytics integration should come through your plugin.
Hello,
Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback and submit a feature request. I’ll go ahead and close this topic for now, please open a new one if needed.
Best,
