• Hi,

So my website just migrated to a new host and we are now using WordPress. Beforehand we used another solution and for that solution I’ve already created a new Google Analytics account.
Now that we moved to WordPress, and I’ve installed the Site Kit plugin, the process required me to have a UA property as well, so I created it from the setup prompt of Site Kit.

The problem now is that when I look at the data from Site Kit inside WordPress, it only shows the data from the UA tag, and since it’s new, there is no historical data to show. Not sure if I didn’t setup correctly, but it looks like my GA4 information is completely ignored.

I can confirm that both tags are inserted on the source code of the page.

What can I do, to show the historical data of my GA4 Analytics listing account.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hello @vlazdra and thanks for your question and detailed explanation of your setup. Currently, Site Kit only supports the display of UA data and not yet GA4 within it’s dashboards. You can find out more information on this in our Using Google Analytics 4 (GA4) guide.

Here you will also find our GitHub issue for further GA4 work so please feel free to follow this for future updates on GA4 within Site Kit.

You can quickly jump to your Analytics account from the Site Kit dashboard by clicking on the Source: Analytics quick link which will take you to your account where you will be able to view your GA4 data.

Please let me know if you have any further questions I can help with.

Hi Adam and thank you for the reply.

I did come across the GitHub issue in the meantime while researching the issue. The issue is from 2020, and there are o indicators in it that something is approaching in the near future when it comes to supporting the GA4 data in the Site Kit Dashboard.

Do you maybe have any additional info on that note, since the ticket hasn’t been updated for some time?

Also, since that’s the case, and I don’t want to lose my GA4 data, do you recommend we use both UA and GA4 tags on our website? Would it impact the performance if there are 2 tags measuring for the same page?

Thank you very much for you help.

@vlazdra I don’t have anything specific to add to the GitHub issue right now but can assure you that work is ongoing on this as we see the UA properties coming to the end of their life cycle. Please do feel free to drop a comment on the GitHub topic if you have anything to add.

There is no problem in using both the UA and GA4 tags on your website which shouldn’t cause any performance issues at all.

@adamdunnage Thanks for the info, I will make a comment on the issue since, as you as well mentioned, UA is coming to it’s end of life and also people with GA4 historical data can’t view anything in the Dashboard.

    Thanks again for your input.
