    Howdy,

This site https://pangaeariverrafting.com/ has been using Sitekit and has been connected and working until a few weeks ago. I was checking the site and noticed that GA was not connected anymore. I went the go connect to GA again and get the following error.

Error: User does not have sufficient permissions for this account.

I also went to the GA account and took a look there and am getting no data for what must be the same time. SC was connected fine and is getting all data. I also noticed that while going through the GA property settings that the association with SC was gone. I added the association again, received the email saying it was done.

I am either an Admin or owner everywhere. the Analytics Account/Property/View that Sitekit is going to is correct. And I am obviously able to access the GA account.

I have reset SiteKit and reconfigured it, verifies with SC just fine but still get the same error when trying to connect to GA. I went so far as to remove Sitekit and reinstall the plugin and then reconfigured it. Still the same.

I appreciate any help I can get. I am a bit baffled.

    Thanks, Jeff

  • @jmsronan thanks for your topic and the details. Let’s see if we can help troubleshoot.

    1) Could you send us a screenshot of the error?

You can provide a link to screenshots using a service like Imgur or Jumpshare.

    2) Were there any changes to the Analytics account recently like an ownership transfer?

There is a known issue and soon to be released fix where a similar error occurs when changing ownership for the site/ property.

    Hi Renee,

    Thank you for your reply.

Here is a link to the Screenshot – https://jmp.sh/NKXEwg0

As far as I know, there have not been any changes to ownership. The only 2 users in both the Website and GA are me and the Client. He has not touched anything. I did take a look at the UA code that SiteKit has on the home page. The UA code is not the one it should be. This is the code below:

    var _googlesitekitBaseData = {“homeURL”:”https:\/\/pangaeariverrafting.com\/”,”referenceSiteURL”:”https:\/\/pangaeariverrafting.com\/”,”userIDHash”:”d47fba21bbb60f0db88adc7ddfde81b8″,”adminURL”:”https:\/\/pangaeariverrafting.com\/wp-admin\/”,”assetsURL”:”https:\/\/pangaeariverrafting.com\/wp-content\/plugins\/google-site-kit\/dist\/assets\/”,”blogPrefix”:”wp_”,”ampMode”:false,”isNetworkMode”:false,”timezone”:””,”siteName”:”Pangaea River Rafting”,”isFirstAdmin”:true,”splashURL”:”https:\/\/pangaeariverrafting.com\/wp-admin\/admin.php?page=googlesitekit-splash”,”proxySetupURL”:”https:\/\/sitekit.withgoogle.com\/site-management\/setup\/?scope=openid%20https%3A%2F%2Fwww.googleapis.com%2Fauth%2Fuserinfo.profile%20https%3A%2F%2Fwww.googleapis.com%2Fauth%2Fuserinfo.email%20https%3A%2F%2Fwww.googleapis.com%2Fauth%2Fsiteverification%20https%3A%2F%2Fwww.googleapis.com%2Fauth%2Fwebmasters%20https%3A%2F%2Fwww.googleapis.com%2Fauth%2Fanalytics.readonly&supports=credentials_retrieval%20short_verification_token%20file_verification&nonce=2f1795f2ff&site_id=hvRm69qXK6ycaE69ride9E-MbZc2noWb2YzD8FQeCHHdD.apps.sitekit.withgoogle.com&user_roles=administrator&application_name=wordpress%2Fgoogle-site-kit%2F1.10.0″,”proxyPermissionsURL”:”https:\/\/sitekit.withgoogle.com\/site-management\/permissions\/?token=ya29.a0AfH6SMChKwSedX-IAdxr0H8qceS0fLZArmobdE929SnyML9v9js7mtXxNt8WRW5bi8c7o5FTxvktH1B3lAsuBuy1LdpE4ttxvjutU0DGhdQ8XcN6NByEEHCL-s2LAe2eX5t_4woPrs0qcL6Hq-QjdGRf-U6siaU_-K3f&site_id=hvRm69qXK6ycaE69ride9E-MbZc2noWb2YzD8FQeCHHdD.apps.sitekit.withgoogle.com&application_name=wordpress%2Fgoogle-site-kit%2F1.10.0″,”usingProxy”:true,”trackingAllowed”:false,”trackingEnabled”:false,”trackingID”:”UA-130569087-3″};

The UA code should be (UA-35980071-1) I thought about just going in the files and changing it but didn’t as I don’t know what that will do.

I am happy to give access to whatever you might like to see.

Thanks for the help, I’ll be glad when we can get data going again.

    Best,

    Jeff

    @jmsronan thanks for the info!

While we are not allowed to access your site, could you provide your Site Health information here or though this form.

    – The error is similar to the one reported in the issue so it may be related. If possible, could you check for any browser console errors?

    – Were you viewing the front-end site source code while logged in? I currently do not see a tracking code in your site’s source code. If possible, could you check in an incognito browser?

@jmsronan Many thanks for sharing the additional information and going to the trouble of creating the video.

In relation to the previously mentioned Analytics code not pointing to the correct property the UA-130569087-3 is a Site Kit property code, which appears for logged in users only when opted in during setup.

In order to try and get the Analytics property successfully connected with the correct Analytics property can you try and reset Site Kit and then open a browser incognito window. From there login to your site and connect Site Kit once more, before connecting the Analytics module.

Let me know if the above works for you.

    Hi James,

OK, I logged in and reset Sitekit. I then opened an Incognito window and tried to set Sitekit back up. Same thing as you can see in this screenshot.

    https://jmp.sh/W10WQil

No problem with SC but GA still gives the permission error.

    Further suggestions?

    Thanks, Jeff

@jmsronan Thanks for the update. Can you access that same property from within Analytics and inform me of the below:
    1. Do you notice anything unusual when clicking on the change history?
    2. When checking the “Account User Management” are you the sole owner?

    Thread Starter jmsronan

    (@jmsronan)

    Hi James,

The Screencast is about 4 minutes, it shows both change history and owners/permissions.
There is something a bit odd with the permissions when you get to Property and View, you will see when you watch it.

    Thanks again for the help!!

@jmsronan Thanks for sharing. I believe the view and property settings are correct, with the parent “Account” permissions automatically apply to lower level permissions (Property & view) .

I’m curious about the change permissions log, it seems your account was access was removed at some stage although it seemed to have been auctioned by the same email. The timing of your site change also could play a part as you mentioned.

I’ll try and recreate the same from my side and update you here. Many thanks for the videos.

    Hi James,

Thank you for the update. Yes, I went and looked at another of my accounts and saw the permissions were the same. Good luck with the testing.

I will watch for an update.

    Than you, Jeff

Hello @jmsronan ! We recently released a fix for this issue in the most recent version 1.12.0. Can you please update to the new version and inform us if the issue persists?

Thank you for the follow up. The update did the trick, GA is now connected.
