I tried adding sidebars through the functions.php editor and for some reason it was incorrect and now I can’t get in to change it or even find my website. What do I do?? I need a phone number or a direct e-mail to talk to someone about this cause I’m tired of having to come here and create new posts to try to figure it out!

Krisna is correct! However, why did you not just work directly through the sidebar.php? Furthermore, if you have FTP or cPanel file manager access to your site, go back to your functions.php using one of these methods and revert the changes you have made there.

You are right, I probably should have gone through sidebar.php but I didn’t know where to find it (thesis theme). I am not experienced in this area. The first thing I did after I added the sidebar code was erasing everything that I added and saving it. Every time I tried to save something or access my site it would take me to an error page. I am new to WP and have never done this before so I’m sure I screwed something up somewhere but I have no clue on how to fix it. I have already emailed my hosting service to see if they can help. I am not quite ready to pay to become a member of DIYthemes quite yet, mainly cause I cannot afford it right now. I would greatly appreciate any help I can get. Thank you (sorry if I came across rude in the first post, you can understand the frustration of having a website one minute and it disappearing the next)

    hi again teswanson,

okay, so you are working via the editor in WP. what i could suggest is the following: (using either FTP or cPanel file manager) :

    1. navigate to your WP installation files (via FTP or cPanel)
    2. replace the functions.php file (the “damaged” one on the server) – with a fresh copy of the functions.php file

    this should work ??

I was able to get the site back up and running but I am afraid to insert an incorrect code into my cp to change the number of sidebars. I have a friend who is experienced in html and php so I will work with him on this issue as soon as he has time. Thank you for your assistance.
