    To whom it may concern,

I’ve been using the Dynamic Widgets plugin for several years now and it’s been a great tool to use! It seems that i’m running into a problem all of a sudden, however.

I have a number of widgets that i’ve been restricting/displaying on certain pages/posts/categories/etc, depending on certain needs. I just recently added a new post, post category and page (https://news.mercer.edu/features/my-mercer-story/) and began to go through the process of customizing where these existing widgets are displayed. It seems to be working fine except for on the “Pages” setting block within Dynamic Widgets. It appears that the opposite of what’s supposed to be happening is occurring. The widgets that are supposed to displaying on certain pages aren’t showing up, and they are showing up on pages that aren’t supposed to be displaying them.

So far, i’ve only attempted to edit the setting for the “Resources” and “This Week @ Mercer” widgets. These widgets should be displaying on various pages (https://news.mercer.edu/features/my-mercer-story/), but they aren’t showing up. And, they are showing up on pages where they’re not supposed to be (https://news.mercer.edu/law/).

I know this is confusing, but any ideas or help you can offer?

    Thanks!
    Matt

I also have this issue. Downgraded the plugin and no longer have the issue.

Actually the last version (1.5.14) fixes a problem with pages on WordPress 5.

I also have this issue … I wanted a widget to only display on the home page, and whatever I did, it displayed on every page except the home page. I downgraded to 1.5.13 and now it works as expected.

I can report I have the same issue too with the latest version.

Because of the change being made to the pages module, an issue might be introduced (unintended of course) for the homepage. I will look into that.

Is there a status update on this?

No, not yet. Sorry about that. I’m currently traveling for business. When I’m back, I’ve planned to look into this.

I encountered the same issue, but noticed that my existing, unmodified widgets were still following the rules; only a new one was affected. This made me think that the issue isn’t in the code that displays the widgets, but rather with the code that saves the rules from the settings screen.

With that in mind (and after reading the other comments in this thread), I downgraded the plugin, set up the new widget, and then upgraded the widget again to the latest version. That worked, and since I prefer to have the 1.5.14 update, I’ll jump through the hoops again if I need to make changes before the issue is resolved.

    Any news?

I’ve noticed that I only experience this issue when I select “All Childs” to display a widget. If I only select specific pages, the widget displays as intended; selecting any of the “All Childs” check boxes causes the widget to display on non-selected pages and not on selected ones.

Does anyone know if this has been fixed yet?

It’s probably fixed now in 1.5.15. I can’t fully test as it didn’t happen to me, but that might be because I did not have the full scenario when this happens.

Since the update to 1.5.15, I have tested adding new and existing widgets to pages and ticking ‘all childs’. It is now working correctly for me.

    Thanks!
