Thank you for your review. I feel you may have misunderstood the purpose of the plugin and may not have full read the documentation on the plugin page that would have given you the information to understand what the plugin is intended to achieve.

This plugin was created originally for a client site. One of the goals was for it to be as lightweight and bloat-free as possible. The site it was created for had a specific requirement for the zooming functionality and this plugin was created to provide that and nothing else. I released it for other people to use for free as as I figured that other sites may have the same specific requirement. It is not a one-size-fits-all solution for any form of image zooming, so if your specific use-case is not the same as that for which the plugin was designed, this is not the correct plugin to be use.

The functionality is as much as it needed to be to meet the requirements. It was designed to show a zoomable version of the featured image in a single window on the page – nothing more than that. Because of this, and the requirement to make a lightweight plugin, there is no requirement for an admin page. The best way to use the plugin on a lot of pages, for example on all single pages of a particular custom post type is to call the function to add the zoomable featured image in the template. How to do this is covereed in the documentation. The shortcode was included to enable people to try the plugin on a single page or add the feature to a small set of pages.

    – the plugin contains the functions it needs to provide the requirements.

    – the plugin was not designed to provide a zoomed image in a separate window, it is not suggested anywhere in the documentation that the plugin is intended to do this.

    – If you think you have found a bug and wanted to report it, you should have opened a topic in the support forum before complaining about it in a review with no information on steps to reproduce it. Just because there is an issue on your installation doesn’t mean that it is the same on every installation of WP 4.0.1. The plugin’s FAQ mentions that you should ask for help before posting a negative review.

Before you leave a poor review of any other plugins I suggest you read Pippin’s post on how to leave a good bad review:
