function the_meta() for keywords

function the_meta().
How could I use this when I inserted a general $key named ‘keywords’ for the input of keywords (the values) associated with a particular post to be used with the searchfunction, but I don’t want that meta to be shown in the blog?
I know that when I use the searchfunction the words within the post will be found, but sometimes I write a post about for instance flowers, but actually don’t use that word in the post.
