Hi, I created a type of post COMPANIES, and in the [Settings]> [Public] I selected “FALSE”

So I went to the administrative panel and the type of post COMPANIES was still being displayed.

What exactly is this option for?

They could clarify the explanation in the plugin.

The same thing happens with the option [Show in the navigation menu].

I select false, and the type of post created continues to be displayed in the administrative menu.

What is the function of this other option “[Show in navigation menu]” After all?

    The explanations are not clear.

The “Show in Nav Menus” one is meant for if they’re available to be added via Themes > Menus.

I believe the general “Public” may be more for front end and/or non-admin user roles. From the codex for “Public”: “Controls how the type is visible to authors (show_in_nav_menus, show_ui) and readers (exclude_from_search, publicly_queryable)”

I haven’t played around too much with non-public post types so I don’t readily have all the nuances and whatnot for when that’s false. That said, we still provide fields for the two since they are part of the arguments available for register_post_type().

    Thanks Michael.
