• Hi
I’m using LearnDash to create an area on my website where I can sell on-line tutorials and it appears as though the page layout that this plug-in uses is the one that is used for my blog which has a sidebar. Not something that I want to appear on my courses pages at all.
So I’ve installed the Content Aware plug-in, created a new “sidebar” that I was expecting to hide the sidebar on course pages. Although it does it still leaves a blank space where the sidebar was and a grey line to the left of it.
I guess then that my custom theme doesn’t just default to a full width page. I read this article on it: https://dev.institute/blog/remove-hide-sidebar-wordpress-page/ and it mentions “looking” at two basic functions is_active_sidebar and dynamic_sidebar but doesn’t elaborate on how/where they can be used to force a full-width page (am pretty much a WordPress novice).
I found another bunch of instructions on how to create a full-width page template and save it in my theme’s folder and also installed a plug-in that allows we to select which template that I want to use for individual pages but unfortunatley those two things have had no effect and the blank sidebar and line are still there.
Would appreciate any help on this, have spent ages researching and trying things out but nothing seems to work!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Apologies for the delayed response here.

If you still see a blank area when trying to hide a sidebar, I am afraid that your theme does not support automatic full-width layouts.

That particular article does not go deeper into on how to use those methods as themes can be coded very differently with various complex design options. That makes it hard to say that “one just have to add these 2 methods here and there, and then it should work”. It is definitely something I’d want to elaborate on, just haven’t had the time for it.

While I can’t help with custom coding, if you have a specific link where you have a blank sidebar and want the layout to be full-width, I might be able to give you a CSS snippet that you can apply with no hassle ?? Just let me know.
