    Hi,

When I set a Jetpack gallery to Tiled, the gallery stops showing thumbnails and instead it loads the full-size versions of all images, and scales them down onscreen. The page now takes ages to load.

Is this a bug? Is it possible to make tiled galleries show thumbnails, or the only option is not uploading large-size images to my blog?

This is a great plugin that I’ve recommended. Thanks!

  • Tiled galleries in Jetpack require to upload photos to wordpress.com as they′re fetching images sized by parameters added to the picture filename. In a normal wordpress installation, the parameters are simply ignored and thus full-size images are delivered. It would require a special treatment of pictures (adding rewrite rules for parameters) and to generate thumbnails on the fly (or usecached versions).

So I think it doesn′t make much sense to include this module to the slim package without the resizing feature.

    Thanks Alexander. You are right!

    Any change to this problem?
I now have pages loading 15MB of images just to display the tiled gallery ??
I tried slim jetpack and the result is the same.

Really great plugin. But without the resize option the gallery is pretty useless… ??

Any ideas how to change that?

    Thanks,
    Dennis

    Hi,

first of all, thanks alot for that great work, its really fantastic. wordpress with this slim/jetpack plugin is really contributing a lot to the evolution in web.

anyhow i cannot really understand why there is an issue with the full sized thumbs. i mean – it is there i can reproduce. but it only appears in the widget “jetpack galery” which then appears in the sidebar.

when using tiled galleries inside a post for example its working nicely with resized and cropped thumbnails that are displayed. and when you click on it it opens the karussel with the full-sized images…

so why its not working for the sidebar galery?

    br,
    luc
