We recently joined SiteGround Hosting and were trying to test the media compression features of the Speed Optimizer plugin. However, when looking at the file manager in Site Tools, we noticed that the uploaded image retains its memory size even after compression. Only the various image sizes generated by WordPress gets compressed. Does the plugin only limit itself to the generated image sizes?

    Hello @gardeniawhispers ,

The image optimization process only checks PNG images that exceed 1MB in size. If an image surpasses this size, it will not be optimized. This rule also applies to the WebP image conversion feature of our plugin.

I looked into my site images and even images less than 1 MB do not get optimized. They all retain their original sizes without any compression being applied.

The only images that do get optimized are the various image sizes generated by WordPress.

Without access to the website and being able to recreate the issue I can not provide much information if there are any ongoing issues and if the compression does not work as intended. Nevertheless, I tested it on my end using a fresh WordPress installation and there were no issues. As the website is hosted with our company please contact our technical support team via a support ticket so we could investigate it further.

    Best Regards,
