Yup – done that as spec’d in the documentation. Static front page, home page template. No luck yet. It worked perfectly with an older version of the theme on a different site i was working on. Can’t for the life of me make it happen on this one. Completely fresh WP install.

Excellent. So then perhaps you just need to add a bit of content to fill out the page. The quickest way will probably be to import demo content.
