Full html from mail doesn't get inserted in the comment db

Postie specifically looks to see if duplicate content is present in the comment and removes it. The assumption is that the post already has the content and it doesn’t need to be repeated in the comment.

If you are using html as the Prefered Text Type I can see how this could mess up your formatting.

Are you asking for a setting that will allow the entire email to be used as the comment?

If I had my way then the discussion board on my site should not respect the original formatting at all. It makes the thread look confusing. But unfortunately my client insist that all messages – both posts and comments – looks the same on the site as in the original mail that was sent including signature and all.

To make a long story short, no I am not asking you to make a generel setting as I don’t think I am representing the majority of your users.
But if you could advise me how to disable the function that checks for duplicate content so that the comments lives up to my clients wishes, then I would be very grateful ??

The only way to do what you ask is to add a setting, which I am happy to do.

On the Message tab look for “Strip Original Content from Replies” and set it to “No”

Unfortunately the new setting has not solved my problem.
I am testing it by creating a new post by email. It looks fine.
Then I write a new mail with the same subject prefixed with “Re:” and the exact same mail content as the first one.
The new mail gets inserted as a comment but the amount of code inserted in the DB is only a third of the original post. It does not recognize line breaks either.

Maybe in my eagerness for a solution I have messed so much with the plugin settings that it is my own fault? In case of that I have also taken some screendumps of my settings.

I’d need to see a log of what happens. Make sure there is an email that should be a comment waiting then click the Run Postie (Debug) button, copy the output and send it to [email protected]
