Full current entry excerpted previous entries

    (She’s baaack. And by now you begin to wonder whether she will ever be contented.)
    In tweaking the layout (as I have only snatches of allotted time and even less creativity, the process is seeming to drag more than is necessary), I wonder whether or not it would be possible to display atop the index page a full current entry, and beneath, entries past, but excerpted? Is the idea too elaborate for the present-day WordPress?
