FTP transfer problem

    I’m having a significant problem with my backups. I FTP all of my wordpress files to my local computer but on one of my wordpress installations (minimatica theme), file transfer fails for some of the folders. I beleive that this is because the path to those folders and files is too long – windows only allows 255 characters. I can’t change these folder and file name as they are part of the theme. So the bottom line is that I am unable to transfer all of my wordpress installation files over to my pc for backup and this is a major problem.
    Can anyone suggest a solution or a workaround???

    The theme you are using has normal file names and if the path is too long that is on your end. I can think of no reason a wp installation would have paths over 255 characters long. The b/u software should now be building such a long path. How are you backing up?

    I was saving the backups in a folder with a number of subfolders on my pc and this was perhaps the problem. I did an FTP of the wordpress folder from the server directly on to my desktop and not into the subfolders and this has worked sp problem solved. Thanks for your input and sorry about the late reply.
