FTP transfer okay, but website still default

    I used the manual FTP setup to transfer the site from a Google site to my personal private VPS, where I had just installed the basic wordpress system.

    It transfered something like 70,000 files and database records. Finished successfully. In the Terminal I see that all files are now there. In the Admin login, all Plugins are now also there.

    But the website itself is still showing the default install; And all “Pages” are not missing. Somehow the system has not linked the data / location of the pages (and everyting else) to the live system.

    I can manually edit things, but where is all this located?
