• I think a realy cool plugin, that would enhace the usability of WP, would be a plugin that added a menue button in the admin interface that was a PHP based FTP client. If anyone know of a plugin like this, or is currently developing one, please let me know. Thanks.

  • A FTP plugin wouldn’t necessarily add anything useful to WP. Most FTP clients already possess a great deal more features and there would be no real reason to re-implement that as a WP plugin.

The reason I wanted it is that I travel alot. I use many difrent computers, many without an FTP client on them.

Uploads using PHP may be vulnerable. A nitwit could upload a script to delete things, or do wicked things. Which is why WP tries to limit upload to one single directory.

I would suggest you try a File Upload utility. there are many open source tools already that you can search and find.

Why reinvent the wheel ? ??

Generally if you’re using some sort of CPanel or analog thereof, you have built in file upload from wherever you access your server, machine-independent. That should be all that’s necessary….

Helped me some times when I was abroad ??

and what about all the people who are using the wordpress having very little knowledge of ftp & stuff… besides if you have X users wanting to upload … all the X must be aware of the passwd….
