I have created the folder for the plugin to backup to but I keep receiving this message when I test the settings.

FTP settings test result: Failure: we successfully logged in, but were not able to create a file in the given directory.

    Messages:
    * PHP event: code E_WARNING: ftp_nb_fput(): domainname/backups/d3df6000b529f9982cc28714d33295ee.tmp: No such file or directory (line 78, wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/includes/ftp.class.php)

Our hosting provider has advised that all permissions are setup properly so it is an issue with the plugin. Specifically they said:

I have used correct FTP settings and still we are getting same error. This means the plugin is not able to upload files to account. The permission of files are correct and there is no issue from your end. Please contact plugin vendor to troubleshoot the issue.

Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks!

    Hi,

This indicates that the path you’ve entered is not valid. It needs to be an already existing path, and one that is either absolute (begins with /) or is relative to your login directory.

To check what a valid path would be, login with any other FTP program (e.g. Filezilla), and check what path your FTP program is displaying.

What was the solution?? I have the same problem.

It depends on the file structure on your server and how your FTP access is setup. First you must upload a folder (ie backups) via your FTP connection. The remote path either needs to be “yourwebsite.com/backups/” or possibly just “/backups/” but again that is dictated by how you are able to login to your web server via FTP. If you still have problems I would share my notes here with your web hosting company and their customer support should be able to help guide you.
