    Hi!

I;m trying to follow the “give wordpress its own directory” instructions using ftp to move the index.php and .htaccess files from the wordpress file to the root domain file.

I’m not used to using ftp and want to know how wordpress defines the wp file and the root domain file.

Is public_html the root domain and public_html>wp-admin the wordpress file?

    Thanks all

    Is public_html the root domain

    Yes.

    public_html>wp-admin the wordpress file

No. From the sounds of it, WP is already installed in the domain root.

When you download WordPress you’ll see that it has structure. The index.php along with about a dozen other files go in the root. Upload the wp-admin, wp-includes, and wp-content folders as is into the root.

    how should i proceed?

Did you install WordPress in the public_html/home folder? If yes, is it still within that folder?

Since WP is already in the root folder, you should not be following the “give wordpress its own directory” instructions unless you want to move it out of root to a /home folder. And it sounds like you don’t.

What urls are in Settings -> General?

    mba2go.com
    mba2go.com

Your site is already in root. Try resetting your custom permalinks back to the default setting via Settings -> Permalinks. If this works, then review Using_Permalinks before setting a custom permalink structure back up again.
