WordPress is having trouble connecting to my server via the WordPress interface. I can connect fine using two different FTP clients.

I also had a hard time finding any FTP information on the WP.org site, am I just looking in the wrong place?

    best regards

you dont need any ftp information for this domain. what do you think that you need that for?

I was looking for information on this site regarding the entering on FTP information on my own site via the WP environment.

I was trying to say I check the forums before asking my own question.

    Does that make sense?

Yes, Kelton, I agree. I just did a first-time install on my (own) web server, and the install went fine, the admin works ok, the page looks fine (for a new install), and I cannot “upgrade” anything because the following info does not appear to be correct. I’ve been goingnuts trying to figure it out.

    Connection Information
To perform the requested action, connection information is required.

    Hostname: myHostName
    Username myname
    Password myPW
    Connection Type Connection Type FTP
    FTPS (SSL)
    Proceed

    I get this error:
Failed to connect to FTP Server https://www.wildnaturephotos.com/blog:21

    Comments, anyone?

    Thanks,

Your hostname might be wrong. Check with your hosting company if you don’t know your FTP server/host.

I am having the same issue when trying to install plugins.
    Yes, all info is verified.

This was a bit confusing to me, it doesn’t specify exactly what username and password it wants, but I figured out its the exact same as what you’d use to upload files to your site using ftp. I also had to create an “upgrade” folder in the /wp-content directory and change it’s permissions to allow access. Now the themes and plug-ins pages work perfectly. Hope this helps anyone else who’s having trouble.

What would be the hostname if you’re developing locally?
