• Updates, modifications and changes being made by FTP client are not showing up within the WP Admin or on the site. Anyone have this happen? My host company can’t seem to figure it out. I had deactivated and even removed the caching plugin thinking it was that, but still no change. However, if I make changes through the WP admin, changes can be seen. I don’t want to customize and edit the entire site through the WP admin Editor, as we have custom coding to our files and it’s easier and more efficient to do through FTP.

Are you FTPing to the right place?

Test: Update something via wp-admin. Do you see the changes in FTP?

Yes, I’m using the correct location. It’s not updating plugins or themes.

It sounds like WordPress was installed with incorrect file ownership. How did you install WordPress on your server?

That’s a very good question, and I didn’t think of that. We had a migration team assist us in moving to a dedicated server. I will check with them. I’m assuming the fix is to re-install WordPress with the correct permissions?

No, the solution is to fix the file ownership. All files in the WP tree should be owned by the same user under which the PHP process is running.

Thank you. Looking into this now.
