wordpress doesn’t recognize ftp’d media natively

A plugin can fix that

@rev.voodoo how do i add that plugin?
basically, what i’m trying to do is set up a music blog and be able to stream some songs using the yahoo media player (as i’ve seen on this blog https://www.youaintnopicasso.com/) wordpress only lets me upload 7MB songs, but most mp3 are larger. i was told that i could use filezilla to upload to the ftp (i use dreamhost) but how do i find those files i upload so that i can add them to a post? is there actually a way to do what i’m trying to do? will that plug in work?

this is only my 3rd day at this, so please forgive the lack of understanding. i feel like a 2yro ??

you install the plugin like any other plugin…. you can use ftp, or just use the built in plugin installer from your admin menu

WordPress doesn’t limit file sizes…. You may be able to raise your upload limits using a php.ini file or something, but you would have to look into that with your host.

With filezilla you can upload larger files, but WordPress can’t see them unless you use the plugin I posted

I have seen people use the plugin to do exactly what you are asking. Allow you to post media uploaded by ftp. I have never used it personally

@rev. Voodoo — I used the plugin you mentioned. It worked on my test try. But then when I went back and added more files a few hours later, the new files I added did not appear in the plugin to be added to the media library. They did show up in the correct folder in Filezilla, however. Any ideas? :S
