• After updating to 2.9.1, I have so may issues I don’t know where to start.

The image uploader won’t work at all. I just get this error message: The uploaded file could not be moved to /var/www/vhosts/mysite.org/httpdocs/news/wp-content/uploads.

Ya know, I do html, so I can just plop code for an image into the post, but I’ve been trying to encourage the client to start using the media library. That effort is a bust now.

When I use Firefox there is an small menu in the dashboard that is floating over option fields. How annoying. What’s that about? How can I nuke it?

The WP plugins (Akismet & Stats) for this client site won’t work. I was getting a notice about about a key. I typed the key associated with my account, and now the installed site is mixed up with my personal WP.com page. NO! no. How do I undo that?

    Arrrg.

    Frustration, frustration.

Have you tried changing the permissions on the wp-content directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767 or 777. Once your uploads are working, change the permissions on wp-content back to 755 again and check that everything still works OK.

Sounds like that’s something in your copy of FF. I use FF all of the time and I’ve never seen anything like a floating menu.

Contact support at wordpress.com and ask them to break the association between your wordpress.com account and this site. Then register a wordpress account for your client – that’s an account not a blog – with wordpress.com and use that API key instead.
