Frontpage section changes don’t show in customizer or on live site

After the last WordPress update, the Frontpage Sections stopped displaying. When I looked in the customizer, the some of the settings were blank. The Big Title and Contact sections were blank; the About section had correct content, but the background image was gone. The logo was blank as well.

I reset everything with what I had before this “whatever” happened, but the display in the customizer doesn’t change, nor does the live site. I’ve tried both Hestia and my Hestia Child theme I’ve been using for over a year. I’m not sure exactly what it’s displaying as I’ve never seen that layout before.

I’ve checked (and changed) every setting in the menu panel, and I can’t make see that any of those settings are impacting what’s missing. ?I’ve reinstalled WordPress, deleted the Hestia theme I had, and replaced it with a new upload. No change. Other related topics no help. I don’t know what to try next. Suggestions?
