    Consider the following setup:

    – agency staff has administrator role
    – client staff has editor role

In WP Maintenance Mode, we set the frontend role to “subscriber” expecting that everyone with that role OR higher roles can see the frontend. But that’s not the case – you must have EXACTLY the subscriber role to see the frontend. That does not make much sense to me.

Strangely enough, the behaviour above is different if you are an administrator: Then you can see the frontend no matter what frontend role is set. That prevents you from understanding the problem your client will have.

Suggestion: Please change this behaviour in a way that the frontend role you set is interpreted as the MINIMAL role a user must have. (Or list all existing roles and allow to select multimple frontend roles.)

    Thanks!

  • Same problem here!

Exactly. An excellent and easy to set up and use plugin but this rule does not make sense. I have a co-author to whom I really do not want to grant any higher privileges as he knows as much about WP as I do about woodworking but this way I cannot grant him access as an author and grant access to anyone with a higher rank (like editor) at the same time.

    RESOLVED!

Since v2.0.4 (17/06/2016) its possible to allow any number/combination of roles to access the frontend, so the issue mentioned above has been resolved!

Thanks! Big, important improvement of this plug-in.
