• This plugin is great. This is less a question but rather a challenge – to you, me or anyone else that reads this.

With your plugin, you can adjust the post visibility using the Publishing metabox on the backend editing screen. What I’m trying to figure out is a way to place that same metabox in the frontend post. My users can’t go to the backend. It isn’t that kind of site. So I’m trying to shoehorn a way to get this baby on the frontend. My PHP skills are about a 4.5 out of 10 currently, so I’ve got some hurdles.

There was a response on the WP StackExchange a few years ago (https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/95545/post-visibility-option-to-theme-front-end-for-author-to-select) that addressed this, but I can’t seen to make it work for me. I just re-asked the question from a broader perspective (https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/304030/adding-editing-backend-metaboxes-for-a-given-post-type-to-the-frontend) and we’ll see if there are any responses.

I was telling someone the other day that the future of WordPress is largely frontend with a few admins maintaining backend. The future hasn’t quite caught up to the present in terms of WP functionality. They don’t make these things easy.

But I know there is a way to do it. If anyone figures it out, or if I learn how, I’ll update this question.

I’m actually working on a front end publisher that works with Post Status, I’m also adding pending post statuses and a way of controlling which statuses users are allowed to publish.
